Exploit a deed
Turn a document into structured, linked data: catalogue the source, transcribe it, and connect every person, parcel and event it names — each backed by its citation.
The common steps
- Create the source. Record its type, archive, reference, date and support — and upload the scan.
-
Transcribe it. Two complementary approaches:
- The Transcription field (CKEditor) on the source form captures the full text — searchable and quotable.
- In the source record, the Content and Media tabs let you transcribe each scan individually and link the people, parcels and events it names.
- Link what it names. Connect the parties, the parcels and the events the act documents.
- Cite it everywhere. Each fact you derive points back to this act as its proof.
By archival collection
Each collection has its own method — pick yours for a step-by-step guide.
